Both the City and County have Enterprise Zones that provide cash incentives for taxable capital investments and job creation.

Workers’ Compensation Insurance rates in Virginia are the fourth lowest in the nation, and as of April 1, 2013, the state rate was set at 1.17, which is 63% of the national median rate.

Local property taxes in both the City and the County are among the lowest in the state, and services from the local government do not suffer because of those low tax rates. State corporate income tax is 6%, and it has remained at that rate since 1972.
