Danville breaks ground Wednesday for defense training center

The U.S. Navy’s Advanced Training Defense Manufacturing (ATDM) program in Danville is expanding with a new 100,000-square-foot Regional Training Center, set to train 800 to 1,000 students annually in accelerated four-month programs. Breaking ground alongside the ATDM summit, the facility will address critical vacancies in the defense industry, focusing on skills like additive manufacturing, CNC machining, quality control inspection, and welding. Scheduled to open in early 2025, the center aims to reskill or upskill students for high-paying jobs, contributing to the Navy’s partnership with Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing
