Uncle Al’s Diner: From cart to brick-and-mortar

Allen Plummer founded Uncle Al’s in 2022 with an ice cream cart, which soon became his beloved hotdog cart as more people supported his business and suggested that he sell hotdogs. Plummer worked on the street with his hotdog stand for two years before strong climates became too much for him each season. He officially opened his brick-and-mortar diner about three weeks ago, which has kept him and his staff busy ever since.

At Uncle Al’s, everyone is welcome and served with a smile upon arrival.

“Everything is grilled and cooked with love. I pay attention to my customers, what they want is what I supply, and my chili is homemade!” exclaimed Plummer.

From the moment you walk in, you are welcomed and greeted with a smile by Uncle Al or one of his friendly staff members. The diner has a bright and colorful red, white, and black checkerboard theme. Customers can choose to be seated at a table, booth, or counter.

The menu features Uncle Al’s famous pork and beef hotdogs, burgers, and wings, which are named after various cartoon superheroes. Folks with a sweet tooth will be happy to know that cake slices from Ma’s Cakes are available to purchase as well.

“We offer the best hot dogs in the world.” said Plummer.”

Many folks truly believe hotdogs from Uncle Al’s Diner are the best, with one commenter on his Facebook page saying his hotdogs are perfect and they appreciate the great customer service and reasonable pricing.

Plummer plans on being involved with the Festival in the Park at Ballou Park as far as events go. He welcomes everyone to come see him and taste his heroic hotdogs and more at his diner.

Uncle Al’s Diner is located at 920 South Main Street in Danville. There are no solid hours of operation as staff members are still in training. Orders and inquiries can be made by phone at 434-554-3132.
