SPRING TRAVEL: Danville and Pittsylvania County promote SoSi region as spring tourism destination

DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) – Danville and Pittsylvania County are promoting the SoSi region as a spring destination for visitors seeking small-town charm, outdoor adventure and history.

Tourism Manager Lisa Meriwether said the region is attracting attention as tourism season approaches.

“Our region is having quite a moment,” Meriwether said. “We’ve embraced our history, our architecture, our river and lakes and we’re finding people really like what they find when they come here.”

SoSi is located in Virginia’s Southside and includes the City of Danville and Pittsylvania County. The region is about 90 minutes from Roanoke.

Meriwether said the area offers walkable historic downtowns, scenic country roads, river adventures, trails, local restaurants, farmers markets, live entertainment and attractions.

“This is a region with tremendous history, cool hotels, lots of new investment,” Meriwether said. “The community is on everyone’s lips lately as the whole state celebrates the success that’s come from a community that has worked together to embrace its assets and tell its story.”
