DANVILLE, Va. (WSET) — Danville’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism has received a $30,000 grant from the Virginia Tourism Corporation’s Marketing Leverage Program to fund the “See You in SoSi” project.’
This initiative aims to attract visitors from North Carolina, focusing on cities such as Raleigh, Charlotte, and Greensboro.
The “See You in SoSi” campaign will collaborate with six local partners, including the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History, The Schoolfield Restaurant, The Bee Hotel, Caesars Virginia, Virginia International Raceway, and the River District Association. Together, they will promote regional activities and cultural offerings through a comprehensive marketing plan. This plan will feature print and digital advertising, web content, itinerary development, and updated creative materials.
Lisa Meriwether, Danville’s Tourism Manager, highlighted the city’s advantageous location, stating, “We’re on the border, it just makes sense, and we really feel like we need to give these visitors a little bit of love. So come see us in SoSi, come spend a day, come spend a night, make it a weekend trip, and we’re going to help them understand why they should do that.”
